Mindful Anger Management

Developing Non Violent Ways to Support Anger.

I can offer sessions that will provide you a space to understand how anger is affecting your life and develop ways to cope with anger in a more positive and responsive way. Anger itself is purely a feeling. However when its coupled with attitudes such as blame, resentment, entitlement and righteousness it can become problematic and start to effect the way we behave. When this happens it may mean we:

  • Scream and Shout.

  • Become Aggressive and Intimidating.

  • Seethe and Sulk.

  • Self- Sabotage.

  • Lash Out at Those We Love

Reacting to anger with these types behaviours can negatively impact ourselves and the people around us.

Mindful Anger Management can provide you a space to understand how anger is affecting your life and develop ways to cope with anger in a more positive and responsive way. Initially the sessions will look at providing you useful skills to

settle anger, such as:

  • Mindful Breathing.

  • Challenging Negative Thinking Patterns.

  • Taking Time Outs.

  •  Understanding Your Reactions.

  •  Developing Your Communication Skills

These are things you can hopefully put to immediate use. As you progress you will be encouraged to take a deeper look at yourself and anger. This usually involves exploring:

  • Types of Expectation

  • Emotional Vulnerability.

  • Blame and Resentment.

  • Your bodies response to challenging situations.

  • Reacting Vs Responding to Anger.

  • Choice and Options.

  • Responsibility

  • Attachment Styles.

The approach I use when working with anger is informed by The Ahimsa Model which was developed through working closely with perpetrators of domestic abuse and violence. The approach involves becoming aware of how your Mind ,Body and Heart interact through exploring core principles of Love, Empathy, Creativity and Responsibility.

The overall aim of the sessions is for you to be able to settle and work through anger in a more calm and connected way. For you to challenge reactive patterns and develop a more responsive approach to coping with anger in a non aggressive way that support loving relationships.
